Description
Specifically designed for the cylinder head to thermostat hose on N5X and N2X engines, known popularly as the “Mickey Mouse flange”, this revised aluminum replacement addresses the common failure of OE style plastic flanges, includes sealing o-ring and hose clamp for complete installation
The plastic flange included with the coolant hose which connects the thermostat to the cylinder head is extremely failure prone. This flange is known to break on its own during normal vehicle operation. However, it’s also known to break when replacing the hose assembly as a whole as regular maintenance.
Up until the introduction of this aluminum flange from Rein, it would have required replacement of the entire hose to replace the broken fitting. Now you can replace the flange with a failure proof replacement.
GEMS autocraft recommends replacing this flange as preventative maintenance. There is no known mileage as to when the plastic flange will fail, failure is generally pretty random. Whether you have just purchased a new vehicle or have had yours for years we recommend installing this aluminum flange to 100% prevent potential problems in the future.
If a replacement o-ring is needed for future use please see p/n 11537545278
Engine Coolant Hose Flange
An engine coolant hose flange is a fitting or connection point where the coolant hoses attach to the engine or other components in the cooling system. This flange is typically made of metal or plastic and is designed to create a secure seal to prevent coolant leaks. It plays a critical role in maintaining the proper flow of coolant throughout the engine, radiator, and heater core, helping to regulate the engine’s temperature.
Engine Coolant Hose Flange Failure Symptoms
- Coolant Leaks: One of the most noticeable symptoms of a failing coolant hose flange is visible coolant leaks. If the flange or the connection point becomes damaged, coolant may leak onto the ground or other engine components
- Overheating Engine: A compromised flange can disrupt the flow of coolant, leading to insufficient cooling. This can cause the engine to overheat, triggering the temperature warning light on the dashboard
