Product Information

This OE-quality valve cover gasket set is designed for cylinders 5–8 and includes the spark plug tube seal. A critical maintenance item, it prevents oil leaks between the valve cover and cylinder head. BMW recommends replacing all 11 valve cover sealing washers (part number 11121437395) when installing a new gasket for optimal sealing.

Engine Valve Cover Gasket Set
The gasket seals the top of the cylinder head, preventing oil and vapor escape. It must be slightly compressible to fill in surface irregularities. Most gaskets are rubber-based or reinforced for durability, while cork versions used in older vehicles demand careful torque management during installation to avoid crushing.

Failure Symptoms:

  • Age: Rubber gaskets harden and crack over time, resulting in leaks.
  • Physical damage: Excessive tightening may deform or crush the gasket and reduce sealing performance.
  • Chemical damage: Sealant incompatibility may degrade gasket material prematurely.
  • Obvious oil leaks: Oil visibly seeping from the valve cover area or down the engine block.
  • Mysterious oil leaks: Oil residue found in odd areas due to engine heat and airflow patterns.
  • Air intake faults: A significant leak may disrupt airflow, causing rough idle or engine codes.
  • Burning oil smell: Oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold burns off during operation, creating strong odors inside or around the vehicle.
