Axle nuts are designed for single use only. If you are removing an axle assembly for repair or installing a new one, it is essential to replace the axle nut to ensure proper clamping force and safety.
Note: Requires a 36 mm (1.42 in) 12-point socket. For reference, see CTA-A432 if you need the correct socket.
Axle Nut Function
The CV (Constant Velocity) axle assembly transfers torque and rotational power from the transmission to the wheels while allowing for suspension movement and steering articulation. It uses CV joints at both ends to maintain smooth power delivery even as the suspension compresses or turns, ensuring consistent traction and performance.
Common CV Axle or Axle Nut Failure Symptoms:
• Clicking or popping noises when turning, indicating worn CV joints.
• Vibrations during acceleration or at higher speeds, caused by a bent or damaged axle.
