Complete rod bearing kit for your E60/E61 M5 or E63/E64 M6
This package provides a complete solution for replacing the rod bearings in the S85 V10 engine used in the E60/E61 M5 and E63/E64 M6. It includes an ACL Race Series extra oil clearance rod bearing set along with all twenty new connecting rod bolts, followed by oil pan sealing hardware, filtration, and high-pressure VANOS service components — ensuring the job is completed thoroughly and with lasting reliability.
The S85’s high-revving, naturally aspirated V10 reaches an 8,250 RPM redline. To achieve this, BMW designed exceptionally narrow rod bearings to minimize internal friction, but the trade-off is accelerated wear. Proactive replacement of these bearings helps prevent severe engine damage and preserves long-term performance.
This kit uses ACL Race Series HX extra-clearance bearings (10B1580HX-STD). These bearings provide additional oil clearance compared to standard specifications, allowing for improved oil flow and lubrication under high load and high RPM conditions. The tri-metal construction is engineered to handle extreme engine loads while maintaining a stable oil film at elevated temperatures.
Extra-clearance bearings are commonly chosen for high-performance builds, track use, or engines that operate under sustained high RPM where additional oil flow can provide increased protection.
If you prefer maintaining OEM-style oil clearances, a version of this kit using ACL standard clearance bearings is also available.
