This INA OE idler pulley helps maintain proper belt routing and tension in your BMW's front-end accessory drive system. It includes the encapsulated mounting bolt and protective pulley cap for a complete replacement.
The bearing inside the pulley can degrade over time, leading to squealing or grinding noises and potential misalignment. It’s recommended to replace the idler pulley along with the serpentine belt and tensioner to ensure long-term reliability.
Note: Torque to 40 Nm (29.5 ft-lbs) during installation.
The idler pulley is a key component of the drive system, helping to properly route the belt over engine accessories like the power steering pump, alternator, A/C compressor, and water pump. It also works in tandem with the tensioner to maintain belt alignment and smooth operation.
