Product Information

This OE Bosch mass air flow (MAF) sensor provides accurate air intake measurements for your BMW’s engine control system. Using hot film technology, the sensor detects the cooling effect of incoming air on a heated surface to calculate airflow. This data allows the ECU (DME) to maintain the ideal air/fuel ratio for efficient combustion, power delivery, and emissions control.

Over time, MAF sensors can degrade due to exposure to contaminants or electrical fatigue. A faulty MAF sensor can cause a check engine light, rough idle, poor fuel economy, or limp mode. Unplugging the sensor to see if performance temporarily improves is a common diagnostic method.

Mass Air Flow Sensor
Bosch hot film MAF sensors are self-cleaning and engineered to meet OE specifications. This sensor is essential for maintaining proper engine operation, throttle response, and fuel efficiency under all driving conditions.

Failure Symptoms:

  • Check engine light: Typically triggered by airflow-related codes (e.g., P0100–P0104).
  • Rough idle or stalling: Caused by inaccurate airflow readings.
  • Fuel trim imbalance: The ECU may overcorrect—rich at idle or lean under load.
  • Poor drivability: Symptoms may include hesitation, poor mileage, or inconsistent throttle response.
