This OE VDO mass air flow (MAF) sensor features a 6-pin connector and is engineered to accurately measure the amount of air entering your BMW’s intake system. Using a hot film sensing element, it detects changes in airflow based on how the passing air cools a heated surface. The resulting data is sent to the DME (engine control unit), which adjusts the fuel injection and ignition timing accordingly.
Over time, contamination or electrical fatigue can reduce the accuracy of the sensor. This can lead to rough idling, poor throttle response, or a check engine light. A common way to test a failing MAF sensor is to unplug it—if performance improves, replacement is recommended.
