The CSF High-Performance Engine Oil Cooler is a direct-fit cooling upgrade for the BMW E60 and E61 M5 and E63 and E64 M6 equipped with the S85 V10 engine.
Engine oil plays an essential role in lubricating and cooling the S85's internal components. During spirited driving, track use and other demanding operating conditions, oil temperatures can rise quickly and place additional stress on the factory cooling system. An aging, damaged or restricted original oil cooler can further reduce the system's ability to control temperature.
CSF upgrades the factory design with a lightweight Aero-Flow bar-and-plate core engineered to provide an effective balance of airflow, heat transfer and structural strength. The increased cooling efficiency helps maintain more consistent engine oil temperatures when the S85 V10 is operating under sustained load.
Cast aluminum end tanks and 100% TIG-welded construction provide the durability required for high-temperature and high-pressure operation. Factory-style inlet and outlet connections retain compatibility with the original oil lines, while CNC-machined mounting brackets provide accurate positioning and secure installation.
The Aero-Flow bar-and-plate core increases cooling efficiency while preserving airflow through the front cooling stack. Its durable construction is well suited for restored vehicles, spirited street driving, track use and other applications that place sustained thermal load on the S85 engine.
Improved oil cooling can help maintain more stable operating temperatures during extended high-RPM driving and reduce the thermal stress placed on the engine oil and internal engine components.
The oil cooler installs using factory-style oil line connections and CNC-machined mounting brackets. Minor trimming of the original plastic shroud is required to provide the necessary clearance. Installation instructions are included.
