Product Information

This 103°C thermostat, including housing, is a critical part of your BMW's cooling system. It precisely regulates coolant flow to maintain optimal engine temperature. Thermostats commonly fail in the open position, causing the engine to never reach proper operating temperature and resulting in reduced heater performance. A thermostat stuck closed can cause overheating and potentially severe engine damage.

When replacing your BMW's thermostat, always use new coolant—Genuine BMW coolant mixed 50/50 with distilled water is recommended for this application.

Thermostats should be installed with the jiggle pin bleed valve at 12 o'clock when possible for proper air removal.

Common thermostat failure symptoms:

  • Overheating engine
  • Engine not reaching optimal running temperature
  • Radiator fan not engaging
