This aftermarket valve cover gasket replaces OE 11127834111 and is designed to provide a reliable seal between the valve cover and cylinder head, preventing oil and vapor leaks. When new, the gasket is soft and flexible, but long-term exposure to engine heat causes the material to harden and lose sealing capability, leading to oil seepage or visible leaks.
Function: The valve cover gasket is a critical seal that ensures oil containment in the top end of the engine. Modern gaskets are typically made of rubber or elastomer compounds, with some reinforced for extra strength. Older engines may use cork gaskets, which are more installation-sensitive and require careful torque application.
