Over time, exposure to heat and pressure can cause rubber hoses to crack, swell, or become brittle. It’s important to inspect cooling hoses regularly, especially on older or high-mileage vehicles, and replace them at the first sign of wear to avoid engine overheating or coolant leaks.

Radiator Coolant Hose Failure Symptoms:

  • Cracking or splitting along the hose surface
  • Coolant leaks at connection points or mid-hose
  • Swelling or soft spots in the rubber
  • Deterioration or dry rot

Tip: When replacing radiator hoses, you will lose some coolant—be sure to top off with the correct BMW-approved coolant after installation. For best results, flush the system and clean deposits using Liqui Moly Radiator Cleaner (LM2051) before refilling.
