Product Information

You are driving around on a ticking time bomb if you have not serviced your BMW's automatic transmission. While BMW advertises “lifetime fill,” the reality is that no fluid lasts forever. Like your engine, your transmission relies on its fluid for cooling and lubrication — you wouldn’t drive your engine for a lifetime on the same oil, so the same applies to your transmission.

Servicing your transmission improves its longevity and performance. Symptoms that suggest your transmission may need a fluid service include laggy shifts, harsh or sloppy shifts, or excessive noise. This kit is designed for a standard drain and fill service, which removes old fluid and replaces the filter without disturbing the torque converter fluid. A drain and fill is the safest maintenance method, unlike a flush machine service which can cause internal damage if performed incorrectly.

Recommended maintenance interval: Initial drain and fill after approximately 56,000 km (35,000 mi) and again at 80,000 km (50,000 mi), then every 80,000 km (50,000 mi) thereafter.

Transmission Service Kit Function:
The transmission oil filter traps harmful debris that can damage valve body passages and solenoids. Contamination can cause delayed or harsh shifts, whining noises, or in severe cases, loss of gear engagement. Replacing the filter during fluid service is essential, especially when replacing components like the torque converter, valve body, or transmission pump.
