This data is transmitted to the DME (engine management system) to calculate the optimal air/fuel mixture for efficient combustion, reduced emissions, and smooth engine performance.

As the sensor ages, its accuracy may decline due to dirt, oil vapor buildup, or heat-related wear. A failing MAF can lead to poor drivability, a check engine light, and even limp mode. A simple test is to unplug the sensor—if the engine runs better, replacement is likely necessary.
