This Genuine BMW S85 idle air actuator service kit is designed for the BMW E60/E61 M5 and E63/E64 M6 equipped with the S85 V10 engine. It includes two new idle air actuators and two sealing gaskets, providing the components required to service the complete idle-air control system for Bank 1 and Bank 2.

Each idle air actuator, also known as an idle control valve or idle control device, electronically regulates airflow entering its respective cylinder bank at idle. Proper actuator operation helps maintain stable engine speed, smooth low-RPM operation and consistent throttle response.

The S85 engine uses one actuator for each cylinder bank. Since both units are exposed to the same mileage, heat and operating conditions, servicing them together helps restore balanced airflow and consistent idle control across both banks.

The included Genuine BMW gaskets seal the actuators to the intake system. These seals should be replaced whenever the actuators are removed to help prevent unmetered air leaks.

Common Failure Modes
