What This Conversion Covers

Electrical retrofit from CCC → CIC for all E6X, with proper wiring, MOST integration, FSC activation, VIN-coding, and GPS/USB enablement. You can stop after CIC and enjoy the modernized head unit. If you continue later with interior upgrades (LCI controller, console trims, SZM modules), those are separate phases and not required for CIC to operate.

Core CIC Hardware (Used OE)

We source clean, tested used OE CIC components, then pair and code them to your VIN. Below are the main pieces required to replace CCC with CIC. Wiring (USB/LVDS) and console mounting are covered in separate sections.

Wiring, Ports & Cables

The OE retrofit loom CIC interfaces directly with the car’s power supply, CAN bus communication lines, and the MOST optical network required for audio and navigation functions.

  • CIC HD Screen LVDS Cable – Transmits the digital video signal from the CIC head unit to the central display (CID) – Qty: 1
  • USB Port (console/armrest or glovebox) – Adds a factory-style USB socket for map updates, media playback, and coding access – Qty: 1
  • USB Port Cable – Connects the CIC head unit to the added USB port so the system can recognize devices and updates – Qty: 1
  • CID CAN/Power Connector – Supplies power and CAN communication to the HD display with the correct BMW connector and pinout – Qty: 1

The loom is wrapped in Tesa tape with heat-shrinked splices for mechanical protection. The MOST fiber ring is checked for optical continuity during installation, and coding data is backed up for recovery if needed.

CIC Wiring & Cables

LCI Climate Control (IKHA) – Required for Full CIC Integration

The LCI Climate Controller (IKHA) is a mandatory upgrade when converting from CCC to CIC. The older pre-LCI panel differs in both physical size and functionality:

  • Fitment issue: The pre-LCI Climate Controller has smaller buttons, leaving visible free space when used with CIC trim.

  • Vent selection: Pre-LCI buttons cannot control airflow distribution under CIC. In CIC, vent selection is made on-screen — the controller must send the correct trigger signal. This button exists only on the LCI version.

  • Compressor behavior: When CIC Climate Controller is installed, the A/C compressor will not engage unless pre-LCI vehicle wiring is modified. We rework the circuit board inside the LCI Climate Controller so it becomes plug-and-play in our retrofit kit. Without this modification, the compressor remains disabled.

Option A — Keep pre-LCI controller: No console work required. Fully supported after coding.

Option B — Upgrade to LCI MENU-button controller: Requires adapting the center console trim (precise cut/fit). We supply or install the OE mounting hardware below.

We perform the console adaptation cleanly — templated cut, deburred edges, hidden fasteners — so the result looks factory. If you prefer a replacement console trim instead of cutting, we can source the correct piece by VIN and finish.

LCI CIC Controller Mounting

Center Stack Trim – CCC (2-Slot) → CIC (1-Slot)

Important: The original CCC system uses a two-slot while CIC consolidates into a single-slot. This requires replacing the center stack trim/bezel with the CIC single-entry design. It’s a purely physical trim update, not an electronic change.

Trim varies by model and interior finish. We source correct OE parts by VIN to ensure perfect fitment and clip alignment. For M5, a single standard trim applies. For M6, one-piece CIC trim is used, available in several finishes.

Installation & Coding Notes

  • MOST Bus & Audio: CIC integrates with your existing MOST amplifier, PDC/camera, and telephone modules. We validate optical continuity, terminate correctly, and code audio profiles for a stable signal chain.

  • FSC / Feature Enablement: Navigation, Voice Control, Video-in-Motion, and other FSC features are matched to your VIN. Regions and languages can be updated on request, with a complete backup of coding provided.

  • USB / AUX Integration: A new USB port (61319167196) with cable (61129196805) enables media playback, software updates, and navigation map upgrades. Thanks to this port, we install the latest BMW map release (2023) as part of the retrofit. We can route this port to the armrest or glove-box location depending on your preference.

  • GPS: A discreet antenna is installed only if the factory source cannot provide a strong and stable lock.

  • Controller Choice: Pre-LCI controller works with no changes. LCI MENU-button controller requires the mounting frame/support listed above and a console adaptation.

  • Coding: All coding (CIC head unit, FSC activations, MOST bus integration, LCI IKHA climate control) is performed directly by our team when the service is carried out in-house.

Everything is reversible and serviceable — loom branches are labeled, OE connectors preserved, and a coding backup is stored for future diagnostics.
