This is a used Genuine BMW Ionic Current Control Unit (part number 13627834713) designed for the S85 V10 engine in the 2006–2010 BMW M5 and M6. The ionic current control unit detects knock and misfires by measuring ionic resistance at the spark plugs, a critical function for performance at extremely high engine speeds where conventional knock sensors are insufficient.

On the S85 engine, the spark plugs act as sensors, detecting resistance during combustion. This unit communicates with the DME to optimize fueling and ignition timing. A failing unit may trigger limp mode or persistent misfires on specific cylinders. Diagnosis typically involves swapping the modules between banks to confirm whether the fault follows the unit.

Important note: This module does not require coding after installation, but clearing the fault memory from the DME is necessary once replaced.
