Product Information

We developed this Genuine GEMS carbon-fiber roof panel specifically for the BMW E60 and E61 M5. Using the factory roof shape and mounting profile associated with BMW part number 41317111362, it preserves the original roofline while replacing the steel roof and complete sunroof assembly with a fixed carbon-fiber panel.

This is a complete replacement roof panel, not a cosmetic overlay. Its reinforced carbon-fiber construction is engineered to exceed the structural rigidity of the original steel roof while considerably reducing weight at the highest point of the vehicle.

By removing the steel roof skin and heavy sunroof glass and assembly, the conversion lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity, reduces upper-body mass and gives the M5 the clean, performance-focused appearance associated with BMW CSL models.

Notes: Picture 11 corresponds to item 1 in the official BMW parts diagram.

Vehicle-Specific Engineering

Fitment is produced for the selected E60 sedan or E61 Touring application and is intended to replace the factory roof skin while deleting the complete sunroof assembly when present.

The original sunroof cassette, glass, motor, tracks and related components are removed during installation. A sunroof-delete Alcantara headliner is required to complete the interior and is sold separately.

Finish Options

The roof is available with a visible carbon-fiber finish. Available finish options include:

  • Gloss clear coat
  • Satin clear coat
  • Paint-ready finish
  • Custom tinted clear coat by request

Carbon weave and finish appearance may vary slightly depending on lighting, reflections and the selected clear-coat finish.

Installation Requirements

Professional installation by an experienced automotive body shop is required. The original roof skin must be removed, the surrounding structure prepared and the carbon-fiber roof permanently bonded into position using the BMW-approved catalyzed structural adhesive.

Installation requires removal of the windshield, rear glass, headliner, sunroof assembly and related trim components

Made-to-Order Product

Each roof panel is manufactured to order according to the selected configuration and finish. Production begins after the specifications and vehicle information have been reviewed and confirmed.

Because the roof panel is produced specifically for the customer and vehicle, changes cannot be made once production has started.

Important Notes

  • The OE number identifies the original BMW roof panel used as the fitment reference. This is a newly manufactured Genuine GEMS carbon-fiber component and is not a Genuine BMW roof panel.
  • Installation materials, glass, seals or interior trims are not included.
  • Professional installation and final fitment inspection are recommended.
  • Custom requests and finishes may affect production time.
