This package provides a complete solution for retrofitting Soft Close Automatic (SCA) to all four doors of a BMW E60 5 Series Sedan or E61 5 Series Touring. The kit combines the four required soft close door lock mechanisms, E60/E61-specific mounting adapters, installation hardware and a complete Genuine GEMS pre-terminated retrofit wiring package.
Soft Close Automatic allows each door to be gently pushed into the first latch position, after which the powered mechanism automatically pulls the door fully closed. The retrofit adds the smooth and controlled closing operation originally available on factory SCA-equipped E60 and E61 models.
The four included door lock mechanisms correspond to the original BMW SCA applications 51217202151 front left, 51217202156 front right, 51227202157 rear left and 51227202158 rear right.
The mechanisms are installed using four Genuine GEMS E60/E61-specific SCA adapter plates developed from the original BMW 51217174631, 51217174632, 51217174633 and 51217174634 mounting specifications. These provide the correct mounting position and geometry required for each individual door.
The complete four-door mounting hardware is also included, consisting of 8x Genuine BMW self-locking hex nuts, 4x Genuine BMW Torx bolts and 12x Genuine BMW hex nuts with plate.
This comprehensive retrofit kit has been developed and assembled by GEMS autocraft to provide the mechanical, electrical and installation components required to add Soft Close Automatic to an E60 or E61 in one complete package.
Rather than assembling a retrofit from individually sourced locks, brackets, hardware, terminals and wiring, the required components are brought together with a dedicated E60/E61 wiring solution and chassis-specific mounting adapters.
