Engine Oil Drain Plug
The engine oil drain plug is a small port located at the bottom of the oil pan. Its main function is to seal the oil pan and provide an access point for draining the engine oil during service. Typically made of steel or aluminum, and sometimes plastic, the plug works with a rubber or metal gasket to prevent leaks. It is removed during oil changes to allow old oil to drain, then reinstalled to reseal the system.
