This Genuine BMW S65 idle air actuator service kit is designed for the BMW E90, E92 and E93 M3 equipped with the S65 V8 engine. It includes one new idle air actuator and the corresponding idle air supply hose, providing the main components required to service the engine's idle-air control system.
The idle air actuator, also known as the idle control valve or idle control device, electronically regulates the amount of bypass air entering the engine at idle. The included hose carries the regulated airflow from the actuator to the engine's idle air distribution rails.
Idle control valve failure is a common source of idle-related problems on the S65 engine. Earlier E9X M3 models were particularly known to experience actuator failures, with many units replaced during the original warranty period.
With age, mileage and heat exposure, the actuator's internal electric motor, mechanism and position-sensing electronics can deteriorate. The supply hose may also harden, crack or loosen at its connections, allowing unmetered air into the intake system.
