This OE thermostat housing assembly from Wahler regulates coolant flow through the engine to maintain proper operating temperature. When cold, the thermostat remains closed to help the engine warm up quickly. Once optimal temperature is reached, it opens to allow normal coolant flow and stabilize engine temperature.

For many applications, multiple thermostat temperature ratings are available, specifying the temperature at which the thermostat opens. Selecting the correct rating is important for maintaining ideal engine temperature, especially in extreme climates.
