Product Information

This convenient kit is assembled to provide everything needed to replace your BMW's electric water pump and thermostat. Featuring OE components—including a Pierburg water pump, BMW Genuine thermostat, VDO bolt kit, and Zerex G48 antifreeze—this kit ensures maximum reliability, correct fit, and long service life. Proper operation of your thermostat and water pump is vital to keeping your engine running cool and efficient.

Note: The BMW cooling system uses a self-bleeding procedure. Connect a battery charger, switch the ignition on (do not start the engine), set the heater to maximum temperature, and the blower to the lowest setting. Press and hold the accelerator pedal fully for 10 seconds to begin the process—the electric water pump will activate and run the self-bleeding cycle for about 12 minutes. Once finished, check and top up the coolant reservoir if needed.

Common symptoms of water pump kit failure:

  • Coolant leak from the pump (weep hole)
  • Play or movement at the pulley shaft (bad bearing)
  • Squeaking noise at idle
  • Engine overheating
  • Low coolant warning on the instrument cluster
