This OE Bosch mass air flow (MAF) sensor uses a hot wire sensing element to accurately monitor the volume of air entering your BMW’s engine. The sensor communicates real-time airflow data to the DME (engine control unit), which uses the information to adjust fuel delivery and ignition timing for optimal performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions control.

Over time, hot wire sensors can degrade from contamination, heat, and electrical wear, causing inaccurate airflow readings. This may result in poor drivability, reduced fuel economy, or the activation of the check engine light. In severe cases, the vehicle may enter limp mode. Replacing the sensor ensures accurate fuel trim adjustments and smooth operation.
