Ce débitmètre d'air massique (MAF) VDO à 3 broches d'origine mesure le volume d'air entrant dans le moteur et contribue à réguler le rapport air/carburant idéal pour une combustion optimale. Il utilise un élément de détection à film chaud qui maintient une température constante. Lorsque l'air circule sur l'élément, un courant plus important est nécessaire pour maintenir la chaleur ; cette variation est traduite en données de débit d'air envoyées au calculateur.

Au fil du temps, des contaminants peuvent s'accumuler sur le capteur et dégrader ses performances. Un capteur d'air massique défectueux est souvent à l'origine de l'allumage des voyants de contrôle moteur, d'un ralenti irrégulier, d'une accélération lente ou d'un mode dégradé. Une méthode de diagnostic rapide consiste à déconnecter le capteur : si le moteur tourne mieux, le capteur d'air massique est peut-être défaillant et doit être remplacé.

Ce capteur est essentiel pour un dosage précis du carburant et un bon fonctionnement du moteur. Une mesure précise de la pression d'air assure une combustion optimale, réduit les émissions et assure un fonctionnement régulier du moteur quelles que soient les conditions de charge.

Symptômes d'échec :

  • Témoin de contrôle du moteur : souvent causé par des codes d'erreur spécifiques au MAF tels que P0100–P0104.
  • Ralenti irrégulier ou calage : en raison de lectures d'air inexactes entraînant une mauvaise alimentation en carburant.
  • Problèmes de réglage du carburant : le réglage à court terme peut afficher un niveau riche au ralenti ou pauvre à l'accélération.
  • Fonctionnement riche ou pauvre : le moteur compense constamment en raison de données de débit d'air incorrectes.
