Product Information

This OE-quality valve cover gasket set is designed for cylinders 1–4 and includes the spark plug tube seal. Ideal for addressing oil leaks caused by aging or brittle gaskets, this replacement ensures a tight seal between the valve cover and cylinder head. BMW recommends replacing the 11 valve cover sealing washers (part number 11121437395) during installation for best results.

Engine Valve Cover Gasket Set
This gasket maintains a sealed barrier between the valve cover and the top of the cylinder head, preventing oil leaks and vapor escape. It must compress slightly to accommodate surface variations. Most gaskets are rubber or elastomer-based, while older versions may use cork, which is sensitive to over-tightening during installation.

Failure Symptoms:

  • Age: Gaskets lose flexibility over time, becoming brittle and leaking.
  • Physical damage: Over-torquing bolts may crush or distort the gasket.
  • Chemical damage: Some sealants can degrade gasket material if not compatible.
  • Obvious oil leaks: Visible oil seeping from the valve cover area.
  • Mysterious oil leaks: Oil accumulation in odd places due to splash or airflow effects.
  • Air intake issues: Large leaks can disrupt airflow, leading to poor engine performance.
  • Burning oil smell: Oil dripping onto the hot exhaust can burn off and produce a strong odor during driving.
