Ce thermostat de liquide de refroidissement BMW d'origine régule précisément le débit du liquide de refroidissement pour maintenir une température optimale du moteur. Lorsque le moteur est froid, le thermostat reste fermé pour accélérer sa montée en température. Une fois la température de fonctionnement atteinte, il s'ouvre pour permettre un débit normal du liquide de refroidissement et maintenir une température moteur stable. Pour un résultat optimal, installez toujours la vanne de purge à goupille mobile en position 12 heures.

Pour de nombreux véhicules, plusieurs températures de thermostat sont disponibles, ce qui détermine le moment où le thermostat s'ouvre. Choisir la bonne température est particulièrement important dans les climats extrêmes.

Types de pannes de thermostat :

  • Blocage en position ouverte (le plus courant) : le liquide de refroidissement circule en permanence, empêchant le moteur d'atteindre sa température optimale. Cela peut entraîner une faible consommation de carburant et endommager le convertisseur catalytique.
  • Coincé fermé : restreint le débit du liquide de refroidissement, provoquant une surchauffe du moteur et risquant de graves dommages au moteur.

Symptômes courants d’une panne de thermostat :
  • Surchauffe du moteur
  • Le moteur n'atteint pas sa température de fonctionnement optimale
  • Le ventilateur du radiateur ne s'enclenche pas
