Au fil du temps, l'usure interne des tendeurs peut entraîner une perte d'efficacité. Cela entraîne un jeu qui fait vibrer la chaîne de distribution, voire des dents qui sautent, et peut endommager gravement le moteur. Si votre BMW présente des cliquetis au niveau de la distribution, le remplacement du tendeur est une première étape judicieuse avant d'envisager une intervention plus complexe sur la chaîne de distribution.

Les symptômes de défaillance courants comprennent :
