Ce capteur de débit d'air massique (MAF) VDO d'origine, doté d'un connecteur à 3 broches, mesure avec précision l'air entrant dans le moteur de votre BMW, aidant ainsi le calculateur moteur (DME) à optimiser le rapport air/carburant. Ce capteur utilise un élément de détection à « fil chaud », qui chauffe un fil et surveille la vitesse de refroidissement de l'air entrant, traduisant ces données en mesures de débit d'air. Avec le temps, le capteur peut perdre en précision, voire tomber en panne, ce qui peut entraîner des problèmes de conduite ou l'allumage du voyant de contrôle moteur.

En cas de défaillance du capteur MAF, le moteur peut fonctionner avec un mélange trop riche ou trop pauvre, caler ou hésiter, et déclencher des codes d'erreur. Débrancher le capteur et observer le comportement du moteur peut aider à confirmer un défaut du MAF.
