Product Information
Genuine GEMS six-speed manual conversion engine wiring harness for BMW E60 M5, E61 M5, E63 M6 and E64 M6 models equipped with the S85 V10 engine. Developed from an original Genuine BMW SMG III engine wiring harness, part number 61117836355, each assembly is professionally rebuilt and converted to the required six-speed manual-transmission configuration. Once completed, it mates directly with the original BMW manual transmission wiring harness, part number 23017840637.
This is not a universal adapter loom or short extension harness. The complete engine wiring harness is rebuilt from a Genuine BMW core while retaining the original factory routing, branch lengths, mounting locations, shielding and engine-bay fitment. All SMG-specific wiring is removed, the original circuits required for the conversion are retained and the required manual-transmission circuits are integrated directly into the harness.
New conversion wiring is constructed using automotive-grade TXL wire matching the original wire gauge. Its thin-wall insulation is similar to OE wiring and provides the heat and abrasion resistance required for engine-compartment electrical systems.
The main 12-pin transmission connector housing is replaced with a new component. All electrical terminals and wire seals involved in the conversion are also replaced. Each terminal is professionally crimped using the appropriate tooling and individually inspected for proper conductor engagement, insulation support and secure retention within the connector housing.
The converted circuits are routed through the original harness using the correct factory branch locations. Opened sections are carefully reassembled and protected while preserving the original harness layout and coverings. ECU-side connections are clearly labelled by destination to simplify installation and ensure each circuit is connected to the correct location.
Every completed assembly is inspected for connector orientation, terminal retention, circuit continuity, branch routing and overall workmanship before shipment.
Remanufacturing Process
- Original Genuine BMW SMG III engine wiring harness core is inspected for physical damage, overheating, contamination and previous repairs
- Harness coverings are carefully opened while preserving the original BMW branch layout, mounting points and routing
- All SMG-specific wiring is identified, traced and removed from the harness
- Original circuits required for the manual conversion are retained and rerouted as required
- New manual-transmission wiring is integrated using automotive-grade TXL wire matching the original wire gauge
- Main 12-pin transmission connector housing is replaced with a new component
- All electrical terminals and wire seals involved in the conversion are replaced with new components
- Terminals are professionally crimped and individually inspected for proper conductor engagement, insulation support and secure housing retention
- Converted circuits are routed through the original factory branch locations
- ECU-side connections are clearly labelled by destination to assist with installation
- Opened harness sections are carefully reassembled and protected while retaining the original layout and coverings
- Connector orientation, terminal retention, circuit continuity, branch routing and overall assembly quality are inspected before completion
Core Charge Information
This product is offered with two core charge options depending on the return status of your original SMG engine wiring harness.
Core Deposit (Refundable)
This option includes the refundable core deposit and should be selected in most cases. The deposit is refunded once your original harness has been received, inspected and approved as a suitable remanufacturing core.
Core Already Returned (No Deposit)
Select this option only if your original harness has already been returned to us or will be provided at the time of local pickup or installation.

The returned core must be complete and suitable for remanufacturing. Harnesses that are cut, melted, heavily modified, missing major branches or connectors, contaminated by oil or coolant, or damaged beyond repair may not qualify for a full core refund.
