Product Information
Genuine GEMS forged wheel set based on the BMW M Radial Spoke Style 166 originally fitted to the E60 M5. This program was developed for owners who want to keep the original Style 166 appearance while moving to forged aluminum construction, larger sizing, custom offsets and vehicle-specific fitment.
The original Style166M setup used an 8.5J × 19 ET12 front wheel under BMW part number 36117834625 and a 9.5J × 19 ET28 rear wheel under part number 36117834626. Those wheels were used as the design reference for the spoke layout, center section, proportions and overall character of our wheel.
We kept the recognizable Style 166 design but took the opportunity to give the wheel more concavity from the outer rim toward the center hub. The result is a deeper and more aggressive profile without changing the basic spoke design that makes the original wheel recognizable.
The front and rear wheels are not simply machined with the same face. Each width and offset receives the appropriate profile for the application. Wider rear wheels can generally be produced with greater concavity, while front wheels may require a more moderate face to maintain brake and suspension clearance.
Each wheel starts as a high-strength forged aluminum blank and is CNC-machined into its final shape. The spokes, center hub, lug openings, valve opening, mounting pad, center bore, barrel and outer rim are all machined as part of the wheel rather than cast into shape.
Available Configurations
The wheels are offered as complete sets of four through the available product variants. Depending on the application, configurations may include:
- Square or staggered wheel sets
- Multiple wheel diameters
- Custom front and rear widths
- Vehicle-specific offsets and center bores
- Different front and rear face profiles
- Brake-clearance profiles confirmed for factory or upgraded braking systems
The specifications currently available for purchase are shown in the product variants. Additional sizes, offsets and fitments may be available by request.
Vehicle-Specific Engineering
These wheels are not produced with a universal mounting profile. Each configuration is developed around the selected vehicle, wheel size, suspension setup, brake package and requested tire size.
Wheel width, offset and brake clearance determine how much concavity can be used. The deepest face is not always the correct face, so each setup is designed to provide the strongest possible visual profile while maintaining proper suspension, caliper, fender and inner-wheel-well clearance.
Vehicles equipped with aftermarket brakes, coilovers, spacers, altered suspension geometry or widened bodywork may require additional measurements before production.
Finish Options
Available finishes depend on the selected variant and current production options. Common choices include:
- Gloss or satin silver
- Gloss or satin black
- Gunmetal
- Brushed aluminum
- Brushed aluminum with tinted clear coat
- Custom single-colour or two-tone combinations
Colour and finish appearance can vary depending on lighting, reflections and gloss level. Custom finishes must be confirmed before production begins.
Made-to-Order Product
Each set is manufactured to order according to the selected diameter, widths, offsets, center bores, face profiles and finish. Production begins after the specifications and vehicle information have been reviewed and confirmed.
Because the wheels are produced specifically for the customer and vehicle, changes cannot normally be made once machining or finishing has started.

- The OE numbers above identify the original BMW wheels used as the design reference. This product is a newly manufactured Genuine GEMS forged wheel set and is not a Genuine BMW replacement wheel.
- Tires, valve stems, TPMS sensors, center caps, wheel bolts and installation hardware are not included.
- Professional tire mounting and wheel installation are recommended.
- Wheel fasteners must be tightened to 120 N·m (89 lb-ft) and checked again after the initial driving period.
- Custom sizing and finishes may affect production time.
