Thermostat de liquide de refroidissement moteur Wahler OE conçu pour réguler le débit du liquide de refroidissement et aider à maintenir une température de fonctionnement moteur appropriée sur les applications BMW compatibles. Lorsque le moteur est froid, le thermostat reste fermé pour favoriser une montée en température plus rapide. À mesure que la température du liquide de refroidissement augmente, il s'ouvre pour permettre une circulation normale dans le système de refroidissement.

Un thermostat bloqué en position ouverte peut empêcher le moteur d'atteindre sa température de fonctionnement adéquate, ce qui peut contribuer à une consommation de carburant élevée, une baisse des performances du chauffage et une augmentation des émissions. Un thermostat bloqué en position fermée peut restreindre la circulation du liquide de refroidissement et entraîner rapidement une surchauffe, causant potentiellement de graves dommages au moteur.

Le remplacement d'un thermostat défectueux permet de rétablir une régulation correcte du liquide de refroidissement et une température moteur stable. Lors de l'installation, la soupape de purge ou le clapet oscillant doit être positionné vers le haut, le cas échéant, pour faciliter la purge correcte du système de refroidissement.
